At Shedding Light, our mission is to provide comprehensive psychological evaluations and provide feedback and consultation to families to ensure that the necessary supports are in place following the evaluation process.
We specialize in Autism, ADHD, Psycho-educational, and Social-Emotional evaluations.
We provide parent training and consultation to help support the family as a whole.
At Shedding Light, we also conduct re-evaluations for those in need of continued support throughout college or for standardized testing.
Our evaluations are tailored to each individual’s needs and are designed to provide comprehensive information to help understand an individual's strengths and weaknesses. This allows us to create an individualized plan to help each person reach their full potential. We strive to provide the highest standard of care and to make a difference in the lives of individuals and families.
Parent Consultation
At Shedding Light, we understand that parenting can be a difficult and overwhelming job. That's why we offer consultation services for parents who are looking for additional guidance and support. Following the evaluation process, our team will help guide you on what services your child would benefit from and where those services could be provided.
Parent Training
Our team will provide you with the tools and resources you need to support your child through his current stage of development while using the clients strengths to support his weaknesses. We can help you implement various supports in the home setting and guide you with interventions that may be supportive for your family.
School Consultation
At Shedding Light, we provide consultation services to families to help them navigate the school system. We understand that it can be a confusing and overwhelming process, and we are here to provide support and guidance. Following an evaluation, it is important to share information with your child's school to ensure that they are providing the appropriate supports in the school setting. Our team of experienced professionals has a background of working in the school setting and can guide you through the process of receiving services. We can also conduct observations in the school setting.
Evaluation Process
Intake: This is an initial meeting with the guardian to gather background information related to the reason for referral and develop the assessment plan.
Testing: Depending on the evaluation and assessments warranted, testing typically occurs over one or two sessions, more if needed. During this time a series of standardized tests are administered.
Feedback: Following the testing sessions, a formal report will be provided to the family. A virtual meeting is then scheduled to review the testing results and recommendations.
